Been a while...

Well, it's been a while. Kept on knitting though!
I've knitted a pair of toe up socks, my way, with great shaping. I'm planning to share the instructions for those, so check back soon. Also continued with the fisherman's sweater which is nearly finished. I'm putting in a pic of the sleeves loaded onto a single circular which worked really well. (Sorry - can't put that one in right now - that computer just died). Also some later ones. Just the collar to do now.
I'm planning a pattern for gloves, also to be shared, worked on two needles (no seams!)
So I have been busy experimenting, my knitting bag has a bunch of little samples in it. Great stuff to look forward to.

Knitting after lights out!

So, we had a power cut, nothing for 3 days, trees down all over the place. What does the average knitting nut do? Put aside the needles? Head to the mall? Keep to daylight hours? Not so; you grab a candle and keep going. The lack of electricity merely meant no distracting tv, no guilt, as there's no way you can do any vacuuming/washing etc.
So glad we have a gas stove do we can make tea! What more could an English knitter need?

current projects

Hello everyone, welcome to the first entry!!
I will start with what I have going now. I'm part way through a fisherman's sweater for my husband, knitting top down. I love this way of working. So easy to fit as you go. It's based on design ideas in Alice Starmore's great book and worked in Lion Brand fisherman's wool. Feels great.
Also a wonderful knitpicks bag kit that my daughter gave me for Christmas and mending her mitts where she went through the thumb : ) I'm planning on sharing the pattern for them when I've written it out.
I have a sweater nearly finished out of navy wool from knitpicks, just the buttonhole band which I am doing in crochet, just had to wait till I had the right buttons.
Other than that I'm always trying out ideas for new stitches and techniques so I'll write about them as they come up. Till next time...
